Grilled Cheese with Fig Jam Sandwich
Grilled Cheese with Fig Jam is a sweet and savory combination that's perfect for a comforting snack or lunch. Here's a simple recipe to make it:
Ingredients:
- 2 slices of sourdough bread
- 1-2 tablespoons of fig jam
- 1-2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup of melted brie cheese (or other soft cheese)
- 1/4 cup of fresh arugula leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium heat.
2. Butter one side of each bread slice.
3. Place one slice, butter-side down, in the grill or grill pan.
4. Spread a layer of fig jam on top of the bread.
5. Sprinkle the melted brie cheese over the fig jam.
6. Add a handful of arugula leaves on top of the cheese.
7. Place the second bread slice, butter-side up, on top of the filling.
8. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
9. Flip the sandwich over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the other side is also golden brown.
10. Remove from heat and let cool for a minute or two before serving.
Tips:
- Use a good quality fig jam that's not too sweet.
- Don't overfill the sandwich with cheese and arugula, as it can get messy.
- If using a grill pan, press down gently on the sandwich with a spatula to get a crispy crust.
- Enjoy immediately and savor the sweet and savory flavors!
